Get What Life is Holding For You

What do you believe life is really about? Regardless of your religious affiliation, your thoughts about life and what it holds for you is absolutely important for you to know in order to get it right; otherwise, very little will ever go right for you. Sometimes, people have the craziest notion about life, which keeps them searching for all the wrong things in all the wrong places. Did you ever stop to think you could be in the right place searching for the wrong things? You will never find wrong in right, unless you are right about being wrong.

Life is not about giving first. Uh oh! Did I say something sacrilegious? I know what I just said perhaps goes against the grain of your upbringing. Now, obviously, a person can give love, but what about all the other things in life which helps sustain it. Love can’t pay the bills, love can’t make you successful in business, and love cannot answer all your questions. Love is a natural state of living, but it is not enough to provide the items necessary for life to be lived fluently.

I personally know some very good people, and I have some of the most loving family members to include aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who love their children; but aren’t always able to provide for them even the smallest essentials. Please do not misunderstand me. I’m not suggesting life is only about financial and material things. However, I do not believe life excludes these important necessities.

There are many intangibles absolutely essential for life, such as oxygen (clean air) and love; but what about food, clothing, and shelter? In the world’s richest nation, there are tens of millions living in poverty without adequate shelter or proper clothing for the right season, sufficient food nutrients, and the list goes on. People living without these other essentials have a shorter life span than those who enjoy the privilege of having these items. Let us not leave out how important it is to have a good education to at least supply an individual with tools which can help foster creative ways to better their lifestyle and increase their income.

Your brain is a wonderful creation. Don’t ever be afraid to change what you think and think about what you want to change. If you do, your wonderful brain will cease to grow. Wonderful things happen when your brain is in use. Education is an essential ingredient on the path to professional success. As job shortages continues to coerce more competition in each field of the job market, those possessing technical knowledge, as well as, administrative support professionals with strong educational backgrounds, are the ones scoring high-paying jobs. But, not only does a better education aid in making more money, education also contributes to becoming more solution oriented because it keeps your brain engaged and active, verses someone who digs ditches during their lifetime. Please do not assume I am belittling the person who digs ditches, I am only pointing to the fact that a good education puts you in a position where you don’t have to do certain jobs if you don’t want to.

Doing the things you would really love to do in life comes with a premium. Life is too short to waste and too long not to enjoy. They say you only live once, but I don’t necessarily agree with this statement. I believe you have more chances to live than you do to die. You live daily, but you die once. While you are alive on this earth, your opportunities are limitless to do all the things you want to improve your life and to help improve the lives of others. However, once you’re dead, that’s it! Every chance you’ve ever had and did not take advantage of to make a difference ends with you making no difference at all.

So, again, I ask the question, what is life all about? Life is not about giving primarily; life is about getting. The sequence of life is about you getting all you can and canning what you get. Life is about you gathering everything you possibly can while on your journey, so what you get in life, you are able to give to others. There is no better way to expound in a simple phrase what the Bible says about this sequence. God made a promise to one Jewish man, Abraham, so he can make a difference in the lives of nations. You can’t give something you don’t have!

Genesis 12:2 “I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. (NIV)

How can you help the world when you have little or nothing to help the world with? Your life is a message board to your family and to the world; and part of your job is to make sure the messages of your life are inspiring to others.

Create the things you want to exist, but ignore the distractions such as fear and doubt as though they do not exist at all. The goal is not to live forever in this life; the goal is to create something which will last longer than you do. The secret to getting ahead is getting started. Therefore, allow me to give you five things for you to consider and do, to get the things you want in life, so you can give the things you really want to give.

1. Go for the gold and leave rocks alone.

Why do most people feel they have to apologize for making a lot of money or give an explanation as to why they like money enough to want to make more than enough of it? One of the reasons is because they live among those who do not value money as they do. You will never influence others trying to be like them. Don’t feel bad for being glad about something you left behind.

Some family members and friends may not fully understand your drive to live your dream; but on the flip side, it’s not for them to comprehend, it is for you to realize the why. How can anyone have the audacity to be judgmental about a person’s desire to have a better life, and to more than adequately provide for their family? Aren’t these same people going to their jobs, working days on end, to get money for their families? It’s unfortunate people don’t spend time ensuring they’re perfect before they judge.

Get the gold by starting your business, writing your book, becoming a consultant in your field, or selling your cookies baked in your kitchen. When was the last time you lost the apprehension to do something you didn’t think you could do? Believe this; you will succeed if you are crazy enough to believe you can.

2. Invest some of your money.

Money needs activity in order to grow. The most common name for money is currency. It moves from one hand to the next hand, from one company to another company, and from one nation to another. Money grows as it moves, but its value is depleted when it is stationary.

You are most likely unable to invest like Warren Buffet, but you can start investing like he started—with what he had at the time. To start investing with $25 to $100 a month is not something to feel embarrassed about. The Bible gives the best advice about starting small in Zechariah 4:10 “Do not despise this small beginning…” (TLB). Investing is taking a small portion of what income you earn and throwing it into your future so when you arrive there, there will be more money waiting for you. Do what you know you should do now, because saying later is another way of saying never.

3. Educate yourself.

A formal college education is not the only education there is. The word educate simply implies an imparting of knowledge or information by means of direct instructions. In fact, self-education doesn’t have to mean making one mistake after another. You can purchase books, audio or videos which can educate you on how to start a business, or invest money, or even to do better at befriending others. The supply of informational transmissions is endless.

4. Whatever you do, aim high.

Make sure your presence missed, is not as important as your absence is felt. If you have a job, there are higher positions available with a higher pay grade. If being an entrepreneur is not your goal, helping one can be just as lucrative. Become an intrapreneur, which is someone who works within a business to develop an idea into a workable product. They are given a high level of autonomy and flexibility for their projects by the companies they work for. An intrapreneur is often considered as the person who acts fundamentally similar to an entrepreneur, but without the risks attached with being an entrepreneur.

5. Stay away from the gossipers and naysayers.

If you refuse to hear the latest gossip, you are uninformed. If you hear the latest gossip, you are misinformed. The desires you have in life and the things you pursue are your own personal rights. Sharing your personal ideas for business or life can become a target for someone who doesn’t want to see you succeed. Some of your best and extraordinary moments in life are the ones you have to keep to yourself because they are too incredible for others to believe.

A Jewish young boy in the Bible named Joseph had a dream. This dream consumed him to the point that he shared it with his brothers and even his mother and father who misunderstood what the dream was referring to, thinking it referred to them in a negative way. Every time you share things which may move you ahead of the line, you run the risk of being misunderstood. You are responsible for what you say, but you are not responsible for what people think you say.
