Your Greatness is a Decision Away

In all my years of being on this planet, there is one strike of light that seems to be turned on more than in any other subject matter. And, while most people my age are thinking about retiring, I am digging deeper to fully discover myself and my true potential. The longer I live, visit other countries and meet new people, the more I notice what appears to be a common thread among mostly everyone. This is especially true among those living in the atmosphere and mindset of western culture. That thread is a deep inner fear of unveiling who they really are and the things they are potentially able to perform.

It seems like people are frightened of the sheer fact of being who they would really like to be. Many of these people continue to live out their years under the guise of other people’s thoughts and expectations of them. This mindset is like a double edged sword. These people are too afraid to move into the consciousness of who they truly are, and too terrified of losing their friends and love ones if they were to move towards changing their lives. Now this is actually living life between a rock and a hard place.

Each person must at some point in their life, come to the realization that they are capable of greatness. Otherwise, the greatness they are capable of will never be realized during their life time. This is not arrogance, but the humility necessary to acknowledge your status on this planet. You must own who you are. Greatness should be an effortless accomplishment. Instead, it is an absurd notion that a person of assumed limited capability can even think of such a thing.

A person who refuses to stand up and be noticed is really doing not only themselves an injustice, but the entire world. To recognize your unique status on Earth is to realize that this power is in you, but not of you. A person doesn’t have less potential greatness residing in them than any other person. We all have different gifts. Some people use a greater proportion of their believability with their gift. It is the same gift, but with greater usage ability than mediocrity.

Reflect for a moment, on the people who have exploded out of the fabric of pure possibility. People, such as Shakespeare, Leonardo da Vinci, Einstein, Martin Luther King Jr., and Ben Franklin…now, imagine your name is among this list of great possibility thinkers and doers. It is hard to imagine all the extraordinary talent that has been wasted among oppressed people, including women—talent that did not rise because the social condition didn’t make it possible. Think of the talent in all people, regardless of race or color—abilities that we have yet to see on this planet because we have not given ourselves the permission to stand in our greatness.

I believe that we have arrived at this moment for such a time as this…to make a difference by first accepting our own greatness without comparison, and to believe in the inherent power God has placed in us. The first person who has to listen to you, is you. Speak out loud, make yourself known, and shine. Even the Bible says to let your light shine. Shine your spotlight on someone and rescue them from the darkness of their self-defeated mentality. Arise; the glory of God has risen upon you.
