Feeling lost in the maze of routines? Have you been looking to become happier and improve your life by networking with people you think can help inspire you, only to discover that the net doesn’t seem to work? And, by the close of the day, the only thing you’re catching is a headache?
Inspiration is needed when your evenings are relegated to watching television. When your brain is inundated with routines, you are accustomed to standard operating procedures. This means that there is nothing that happens in your life, your marriage, or your finances that is out of the ordinary. The general rationale for normality in most lives, is feeling threatened by change. There is no reason why a person should feel intimidated by change. Make a deliberate decision to become committed to change so that changes that occur in your life will not be involuntary.
Commitment and dedication is designed to take you to the end of a goal, while the lack of commitment will only allow you to reach a level of mediocrity. Significance doesn’t necessarily come doing something big or extraordinary. Make up your mind that you are going to first be a person of significance. This way, what you do in life will be significant; big or small, as long as it matters.
Some things are easier experienced than expressed. Motivation and moral can produce such an overwhelming energy that it produces a mental hiccup, because as much as you may want to, you can’t explain your feelings. You see, what people feel stays with them longer than what they see or what they can remember. Maya Angelou said, “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”
A person of significance is one who is less concerned with impressing people as they are with leaving a possible impression. I often say that I don’t want to impress anyone, but I do want to impress upon people the importance of things that matter, not things that shatter.
Find out what truly matters to you. Just because you may be experiencing a financial crunch in your life doesn’t mean that obtaining money has to be your principal goal. I know how it feels when you believe that the only solution to your crisis is money. Money is just a temporary fix to a long term predicament. This is why you should never make decisions for your future based on money. You make decisions based on the direction you want your life to go. A person can make a lot of money doing what they don’t love, but that person will be a lot happier and at peace doing what they love while also making enough money to live on and give.
Do yourself a favor and give yourself a plan. At the start of a new semester, an English professor had all of his students sit and write a composition on what they would do if they had a million dollars. After thirty minutes, one young female student pushed her desk away, walked up to the professor’s desk, slammed her scratched up paper of numbers down, and said, “I need one hundred thousand dollars more!” She took the English professor literally. When it comes to your life and how you want to live it, don’t just take your life seriously, you should also take it literally.
Instead of trying to find your way through a maze, just rip a hole in the walls and escape. Do something different and different results will occur.
