HOW DO YOU HANDLE PRESSURE OR STRESS? Pressure has a way of disorienting you, scrambling your brain patterns, and causing confusion. If you don’t learn to get a handle on it the moment it appears, the result could be drastic mood swings and destructive behavior patterns.
There are many kinds of pressures that a person will experience during their lifetime. However, it is not the pressure that matters; it’s what you do with it that matters most. How a person may manage pressure or control it is totally dependent on their perception of it. In our everyday lives, we are exposed to many references to pressure: atmospheric conditions such as high pressure or low pressure, psychological conditions such as feeling under pressure, and medical conditions such as sinus or blood pressure.
We live in a culture where most people have felt financial pressure, peer pressure, business pressure, or marital pressure, just to name a few. Although these are pressures, unlike atmospheric or sinus pressure, they are actually mental pressures that engender anxiety.
What do you do, and how do you respond when you feel as though you are under pressure? Do you thrive or deteriorate while under the stress of mental pressure? Are you calm or do you become agitated? Just for a moment, take a candid introspection of your own history of feelings, thoughts, and motives, and don’t turn away from them, even if it hurts. Your future depends on your knowledge to release and eradicate the past so that you can better build your future. You have to be willing to acknowledge and release the things from your past, so you will not believe them to be your present reality. In the end, a successful life will mean that we learned and grew spiritually from whatever happened.
Pressure and stress are unavoidable aspects of the world we live in. Therefore, it is absolutely vital that you gauge your strength to determine your personal threshold, so that you can continue to make adjustments when confronted with new challenges. The ability to cope with pressure and stress is essential in almost all walks of life, whether you’re working as the checkout at your local store, or as the CEO of a major corporation. A person under pressure will react or respond in one of two ways. When pressure hits, a person will either become focused, or he or she will fold.
The problem that looms most, is that people are oblivious to stress and where it can come from. Although pressure or stress is inevitable, it has to come from somewhere, because it seems to have permission to come and go in our lives as it pleases. To the contrary, pressure is a psychological hypothesis that only gains strength when a person doesn’t realize that they created it. So, if a person can create their own stress, they can also free themselves of it.
“What lies before you and what lies behind you are tiny matters of what lies within you.”
~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
Perception is supreme; because, how you see a matter, is how it is and how you will respond to it. Here are four great, easy ideas for disarming your stress by relieving you of your pressure.
1. Remember who is actually in control; YOU:
You have the power within you to cancel out and discharge all thoughts of negativity from your past. The truth is that if you refuse to take 100% responsibility for your life, you will not be able to change it. The world of material form simply reflects what is going on in your thinking. So, don’t look at the circumstances as encompassing you with no way out, view them as challenges that you are capable of overcoming.
2. Learn how to facilitate your time:
The greatest waste in the history of mankind is not money, but rather time. When a person doesn’t manage their time, they are actually mismanaging their life. Everyday a direct deposit of 86,400 seconds is deposited into their life account. This is how much time you are given daily to make smart and wise decisions. Your entire day is in your hands. The person who doesn’t respect their time will not respect yours either. Don’t let time stealers rip you off, leaving you with late evenings and unaccomplished goals. Time is your most precious commodity. Use it wisely, and you can cut your pressure by as much as 80%.
3. Don’t get into a rush:
Whatever your desire is, don’t concern yourself with possessing it until you have made concessions for mentally conceiving it. You cannot possess in your life what you cannot retain in your mind. Too often people are inundated with keeping up with the Joneses’…trying to have the latest technological device, the best office ranking, or the name brand handbag…, and for what? If you are in a hurry to achieve something or to get your hands on something, you will simply end up with worries. You will always be at in the effect of whatever the cause was that was programmed into your mental system. If you change at the level of cause, you will experience a new effect. Live your life similar to how you walk, taking one step at a time. Success isn’t going anywhere soon; it will be there when you get there.
4. Focus on the solution not on the problem:
Focus is nothing more than anxiety in reverse. Similarly, fretting about your finances will do nothing but get you worked up and mentally bent out of shape. Anxiety will usually prevent you from taking action because you are fixated on the problem, not the solution. Focus on what you want, not on what you don’t want. This small shift in your psyche from worrying about the problem, to focusing on the solution, can help you adjust your reaction to stress.
If you are looking east for a sunset, your focus is misguided. Get a mentor, and not just anybody. If you want the best for your life, get the best for your life and listen to him. A person can be focused, but focused moving in the wrong direction. If you are interested in really losing weight, and you choose a friend in just a tad bit better shape than you are, you will not do as well as you expect. Employ the person who is 30 to 40 pounds lighter with an ongoing record of managing their diet and physicality. If you are going to focus, focus big not small. If you have ever had the suspicion that you are wasting your life, you are. Sometimes, the reason the big things we are capable of aren’t manifesting is because our thoughts are too small. Every situation you create is small compared to every solution you can produce.
