...you should see the loser!
“I do not think there is any other quality so essential to success of any kind as the quality of perseverance. It overcomes almost everything, even nature.”
~John D. Rockefeller
Perseverance only occurs after value has been determined. In order to succeed, a person must want more of what is on the other side of perseverance, than on this side of capitulation. The fear of what it takes to succeed in life, business, or sports is oftentimes too demanding for a person to overcome. Most people would rather live with the pain of never living out their dreams than to live with the scars incurred while achieving them.
I do not know all of the dynamics about this extraordinary power of perseverance. However, I do know that it exists, and that it is available only to people, even children, when a person’s state of mind knows exactly what is personally desired, and is fully persuaded that quitting in the process is not optional. Perseverance is the quality of a form of determination that has no cavity to embrace fear, love, or hatred. It is neutral in every respect. The only characteristic perseverance possesses is forward mobility. Perseverance is the terminator of challenges.
Fear is an emotion and it causes a person to alter or surrender their push for excellence. Oftentimes, when a person quits due to opposition, it only proves that their determination is not strong enough to overcome their fears or apprehensions. This is why the most talented and gifted person can be among the poorest in this country. After signing a long-term contract and experiencing fame and some fortune, the most gifted singers usually discover that they are not living their dream, but rather someone else’s dream.
We often compromise the pursuit of our personal dreams by taking shortcuts that lead us away from our true aspirations. Usually while taking these shortcuts, we are detoured from our dreams into the arms of devious characters and compromising situations. Trying to avoid the long, heart wrenching, and sometimes painful journey of reaching and accomplishing your dream, is like pawning a million dollar ring when you have millions in the bank. This is why perseverance is the price paid when weathering the storms of opposition. The prize, however, is worth the fight.
Perseverance, when made applicable, gives you the fortitude to rather fight than switch!
