The first thing most people want to do when things go wrong in their life is look for someone, other than themselves, to blame for the chaos they’ve created. This demonstrates a lack of responsibility. The more clearly you understand yourself and your emotions, the better you can manage your behavior and navigate your life. A person cannot restructure or better him or herself without experiencing times of questioning who they really are. To avoid responsibility, is an indication that you don’t want to be responsible. And, to not be responsible is to not be committed. Therefore, how can you expect to go anywhere if you are not committed to your decision?
Blaming others for why things are not going as well as you expected them to go, does not automatically correct things that are out of alignment in your life. One of the things you must do is recognize that, regardless of what has happened in your past, whatever you do today should not be provoked by yesterday’s slip-ups. Be willing to accept that you are going to make mistakes, but realize that you don’t have to be dictated to by them. If a decision you have made led you down the wrong path and turned your life upside down, making a calculated determination, and refusing to go into an emotional tailspin, may be all that is needed to put you back on the right track.
Stop the blame game and accept the change game. Usually, anytime change is involved, something has to be given up in order for the change to take its course. How to understand yourself and change your most common, puzzling, and self-defeating behaviors and habits starts with your attitude. You can adjust your attitude anytime you want. You cannot exchange your brain for a new brain, but you can change its contents.
Things are going to go wrong at times in your life. There are going to be times when you think that the decision you make is the best of all the options you have, and things will still go wrong. Don’t allow your attitude to decline and crash the rest of your life. Let your attitude take altitude and soar. When you do, you will discover that there is a whole new world of solutions that are available to you, that you never knew existed. Go ahead! Discover new frontiers and go where no man has gone before. I’ll See You at the Top!
