Earlierthis year I spoke to about 160 women, and about 65 percent of them were professionals in their career fields. They left with the revelation of a key that unlocked the door to their success. Shortly thereafter, I spoke to approximately 30 men. I informed them that they had the keys to their success and that they have to discover which doors those keys will fit.
“I’m no better nor less than the next man. But, the thing about me is that… I found a singleness of purpose early on.”
A life and business mentor is good to have if you are in business and for life’s purposes. A new study suggests that a good life and business coach or an advocate is more likely to help men and women advance. A mentor is someone whose hindsight can become your foresight, and without a coach/mentor, you may not have any sight at all.
A life or business coach is nothing more than a mentor, who is more than someone that gives you answers to your most perplexing situations, but will also walk and guide you through them with their voice. A committed men-tutor will not accept your excuses for failure but he will accept your reasons for getting up. You must take personal responsibility for all your actions if you are going to succeed. You cannot reason with failure nor can you change people’s mind, but you can change yourself. You are always in charge of yourself.
A life and business coach is often underrated and ignored for the quality of work they can provide to a single family or business. Your life coach will help you work out the kinks and demonstrate to you the power of focus. You should expect three components from your life and business coach:
1. What are your aspirations? (desire or ambition to achieve something) Whatever you attach yourself to…you will become. “I am… (Blank)”. I often lead my groups to repeat my phrase. I refuse to be average!
It is better to learn as we go, and not go as we have learned. Of all our human resources, the most precious is the desire to improve. Avoid being caught up on one method because what method was used in one place may not work in another place.
Do you truly know what you want? If you don’t know what you want, how will you recognize it when it appears? Do not be afraid to identify every detail you envision in your mind. It is your life and you ought to know how you want your life to be lived.
2. Do you have a plan? What are you doing at the present to ensure that your goals come to fruition?
Only he who can see the invisible can do the impossible. To plan your life means you have made no room for incidentals. If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. I believe strategy is more essential than strength. Your oppositions may be bigger and stronger, but if you are going to win your battle against them, you have to outsmart them. Procrastination is not a plan; it is a pause signal. A good plan today is better than a perfect plan tomorrow.
3. How can I help you to step out of your dreams in order to live them?
You can have 100% talent and 50% commitment, and with all that talent, you will always stop at the slightest struggle. Struggling will be your signal to give in.
Vince Lombardi was always hard on his Green Bay Packers because he realized that the harder you worked, the harder it is to surrender. Invest whatever is necessary to create the atmosphere you want to surround you. Always see rejection as a door, not a wall.
While I was taking flying lessons, my instructor told me to always remember this one principle while flying; always plan for adjustments. An adjustment during flying does not mean totally changing your flight plans. It means that you are correcting or tweaking your plane while in flight.
Allow me to leave you with these two principles:
One, do not get so busy living life that you forget to plan how you want your life to be lived. And, two, the fork in the road confuses a person who does not have a plan and a mentoring voice to guide them through the confusing periods of their life.
