I really like what you said "People who are conventionally clever get jobs on their qualifications (the past), not on their desire to succeed (the future)." Every since I got out of the military I was always looking for a job that I knew I could learn how to do, although I may not have had the certificate to prove it. God has shown tremendous favor in the area of employment. I know hold a position where I do not have the certificate of training but possessed the desire to learn more and trust God for the wisdom. To gain the knowledge is completely useless unless one applies it. Example, I have the knowledge to budget my finances but never do has no benefit to me or others. The desire to succeed will motivate a person to obtain the tools necessary to achieve their goal.

This blog is interesting in many ways. Society stresses the importance of education because it is the key to a "high-paid" job/position. However, the real secret to success is the networking (who you know). I believe there are many successful individuals in certain positions because they knew someone who could help them get there. If you know the right person, the door that appears to be locked could magically open and give one an opportunity of a lifetime.

WOW...it's amazing how all our lives we are taught to get a higher education (which is important, yes), however, not having a college degree doesn't mean you cannot become wealthy; not having a degree doesn't mean you cannot be the owner of your own business; not having a degree doesn't mean you cannot be successful! Sometimes I would view others with a degree as being more successful. I now understand it's in how I look at ME. Thank you Dr. Brown for always bringing life into perspective with the word of God!

I was one who struggled in school because of disabilities I was told that I had. Therefore I had a mother that made it easier for me to graduate high school, by writing me out of having to take and pass certain tests in order to graduate. She told me because of my disabilities I wouldn't be able to pass those certain test and that was ok. I am now learning how to do things all over as an adult, because answers were always giving to me instead of me looking for myself. This opens my eyes to so much. Just because I was mediocre in school doesn't mean that my future has to be. I have discovered that God's word declares opposite of what I was shown. It is a challenge to overcome but I will overcome!

So true about money and what it really is and that is a tool. My question is how do we convey to our children the importance of an education but at the same time telling them it is not the key to success? As adults we can bring the thinking or mentality together of having an education can open doors but it is not the end all. Kids will only think of the part of being a success without still seeing how important an education is and how doors can be opened.
