Achieving Success in 2009

“I have learned that if one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.”
–HENRY DAVID THOREAU

People often encounter obstacles, as they are moving towards their desires. Mistakenly, they allow these obstacles to become indicators that they should no longer pursue their dream. However, obstacles are a part of life’s challenges. If it were easy to achieve success, then we would have more people succeeding in this nation.

The truth of the matter is, achieving success is very cumbersome. From working to lose weight to laboring to achieve financial freedom, there will be opposition with every attempt. Overcoming the challenge in order to reach your goal is oftentimes more rewarding than the goal itself. In fact, the thrill of obtaining the prize is often short lived in comparison to the grueling and mental toughness needed to effectively reach one’s expectations.

Athletes were asked what did they miss the most about the sport that they played. Almost all of them said they missed getting physically and mentally prepared for the challenges and obstacles. Fighting to win in life is no different from fighting to win in sports. Both have hurdles that must be overcome or else the opposition will win every time. Pursuing your dream for 2009 is more important than what you may not have accomplished in 2008.

One year has been lived and another year has yet to be lived. Which year do you deem more valuable? Ask God for strength and get up and take control of 2009. Your best days are ahead.

2009 is more valuable and worth my attention than 2008 at this point. I thank God for someone who can clearly help me focus and push forward the way you can. In a way you are like Moses leading me to my promised land. For the glory of God I will make 2009 grerater than 2008!

2009 is so much more valuable to me than 2008. The things that occurred in 2008 I can not change. It is the past. For me this New Year feels so different than past New Years. I have so much determination (with a tinge of healthy anger). I am determined to take back not only what the devil took but also what I gave away. In 2009 I have hit the floor running. As a matter of fact I did not even wait until midnight. I pray for patients, stamina, that I make good decisions based on the principles of God in 2009.
